Math 8 :)

Here's the extra credit opportunity that I mentioned in class today - I'm glad you're checking :)

You need to do two things in order to receive the extra credit point.

#1 As a comment on this post, post your first name and last initial (no last names) and the period you have math.  This must be done by 9:00 PM this Sunday, October 23.  Remember to check back before the deadline to make sure it posted.  If your post isn't there, re-read the directions and then try again.  If it still isn't posting, email me before the deadline.

#2  Go into Handouts for Unit 3 and print the "Extra Credit" paper.  On a separate piece of paper, justify every step as you find the measure of each unknown angle (exactly as we did in class today).  You should have 11 separate justifications.  As you're writing the justifications on the other piece of paper, write each angle measure on the diagram itself.  Write your name, date, and period in the upper right corner of the "Extra Credit" paper and staple the justifications behind it.

These papers must be turned in BEFORE HOMEROOM this Monday for the extra credit point.  You can drop it off before school or on your way to homeroom, but I will not be accepting it after the tardy bell rings for homeroom.  And remember that there are two parts to this extra credit assignment - BOTH must be done by their deadline.

Have fun! :)

Algebra Homework

Your homework is to watch this short video on matrices and then do your best to complete #1-8 on pages 7-10.  A huge part of algebra is supposed to be about discovery, so please don't get help from your parents or from older siblings/friends who have already learned about matrices.  Please feel free to talk to classmates and brainstorm with them  - that would be great!  Click here  for the video.

Also, remember that everything in your binder from Units 1-4 can stay at home.  Keep it somewhere safe where you won't lose it because you'll need it to study for the final, but you don't need to bring it to school with you anymore.

Math 8 Homework

Check handouts for the homework that's due on October 12/13.  It's titled "End of Unit 2 Homework" and will be page 2-31 in your binder.  The next unit will also include equations, so let's keep practicing.  I hope you all did well on the Unit 2 Test :)

(If you're unable to print the assignment, come in during brunch the day before it's due and you can print one in the core.)
